Dental Assistant
Dental assistants have many tasks, including patient care, recordkeeping, and appointment scheduling. Their duties vary by state and by the dentists’ offices in which they work.

- Medical Terminology
- Anatomy & Physiology
- Preclinical Tech lecture
- Preclinical Tech lab
- Dental Sciences
- Chairside Seminar Lecture
- Chairside Seminar Lab
- Dental Material
- Dental Radiology
- Preventive Dentistry
- Dental Office Procedures
- Expanded Functions
- 300 hours of off-site clinical internship
Additional Information
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Dental Assistants can expect a median annual wage of $37,400 or $17.98 per hour.
Dental Assistants are categorized as a “bright outlook” occupation which is expected to grow rapidly in the next several years, will have a large number of job openings, or are new and emerging occupations.
Upon successful completion, students earn:
- Buffalo Educational Opportunity Center Certificate of Completion
- Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) CDA
- NY State “licensed certified dental assistant” RD
- Buffalo EOC is the only ADA/Commission on Dental Accreditation approved program in NY State

Program Requirements
Before you start this class, you must:
- Meet minimum TABE Reading (556) and Math (536) scores
- Attend a program information session
- Complete the Allied Health Customer Service (AH-CS) Program
