Once located in the basement of Baldy Hall, CLaRI has relocated our unique center to the lower level of Foster Hall, the home of the Graduate School of Education. Here, each child has their own personalized tutoring area that is collaboratively made between the student and their tutor with resources to support their reading and writing needs. These carrels are also outfitted with state of the art audio/visual recording devices that we utilize as we conduct research to develop best practices in literacy education. We pride ourselves in offering a center that is family friendly, containing a coffee bar for parents to grab a pick-me-up while their children are in lessons, and offering a warm atmosphere to comfort young readers by offering beanbag chairs, stuffed animals, and other comforts for the children we support. We consider CLaRI a “community of learners” – a place where children learn to be good readers and writers, parents can feel comfortable that their children are being supported in our care, and where clinicians learn about developmentally appropriate literacy instruction.
