CBLS Power Outage
Monday, November 17, 2025 8-10am
Because nearly all CCR HPC infrastructure has been moved to the off-site data center and all other CCR infrastructure is on emergency circuits/generator, there is no expectation of a large scale outage. All HPC services (networking, storage, portals) and the UB-HPC cluster will be online. Most of the faculty cluster will be online.
Rack v12 of the faculty cluster remains at CBLS and will be offline starting Monday, November 17 at 7:30am. Nodes will be brought back online immediately following the power restoration
This work is necessary to prepare for load bank testing on the UPS
Empire AI resources WILL be offline during this period. Please refer to the Empire AI alerts for updated information

Tuesday, November 18-21, 2025
Facilities will be testing the new UPS system during this time period
There is no expected affect on CCR's systems
Employees are encouraged to avoid the first floor of the CBLS building

Saturday, November 8, 2025 6am - 6pm
This power outage will affect the entire CBLS building except for emergency power circuits

Building occupants have been notified with additional details
This work is necessary to bring an additional power feed to the CBLS data center
Empire AI resources WILL be offline during this period, shutting down on Friday, November 7 at 12pm. The expectation is that power will be restored on Saturday evening and, baring any issues, the cluster will be returned to production. Please refer to the Empire AI alerts for updated information

CBLS Data Center Power Outage #2: September 2-5, 2025

Beginning at 3pm on Tuesday September 2 we will shut down affected servers and services.
As soon as electrical work is completed, CCR staff will return the HPC infrastructure to production. This is anticipated to be the morning of Friday, September 5.
Compute nodes remaining in the CBLS data centerwill be powered off
The Vast storage system and the compute nodes in the new data center will be available for jobs
