UB Mathematics is pleased to announce that Gigliola Staffilani will deliver the next edition of the Myhill Lecture Series. Staffilani is an analyst whose research is on dispersive nonlinear PDEs. Serveing as the Abby Rockefeller Mauze Professor of Mathematics, Staffilani received MS and PhD degrees from the University of Chicago in 1991 and 1995 respectively. Following a Szegö Assistant Professorship at Stanford, she held faculty appointments at Stanford, Princeton and Brown, joining MIT in 2002. As a member of the MIT Math Department’s edX group, Gigliola won the inaugural MITx Prize for Teaching and Learning in MOOCs, awarded by the MIT Office of Digital Learning. In 2018, MIT's Presidential Task Force on the Undergraduate Educational Commons presented Gigliola with the Earll M. Murman Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Advising.
