Katie Engel is PhD candidate in English at SUNY Buffalo. Her research examines the rhetorical performances and strategies of early modern women, focusing particularly on midwives and other women in intermediary roles. She received her undergraduate degree from Loyola University Maryland, and her M.A. in Rhetoric at Carnegie Mellon University. Her research assistantships at these schools centered around digital humanities projects, locating, tagging, and coding primary materials.
