Thom Eichelberger-Young is a research fellow and PhD student in the Poetics Program at SUNY Buffalo, where they work within ontological language philosophy and contemporary innovative writing. Outside the program, they have been active for many years as a publisher, poet, and theorist. Thom founded and operates Blue Bag Press, including the journals ISSUE and RESOURCES, as well as the digital humanities initiative ARCHIVE, and the reading series LIMITED PALETTE. They are also the author of three book length poems, BESPOKE (St Andrews University Press, 2019), ANTIKYTHERA (Antiphony, 2024), and the forthcoming DAY(S) SO FAR (Dead Mall Press), as well as the chapbooks “The Last Words of Sergeant Metaphysic” (Datableed, 2025) and “Travelogue” (forthcoming, Dead Mall Press), and the critical work OINTMENT WEATHER: INSURGENT POIETICS FOR DESPERATE TIMES (CLOAK, 2025). Their poems, essays, interviews, and other writing have appeared widely internationally, including in FENCE, Bombay Gin, Mantis, Belladonna Collaborative, Periodicities, Mercury Firs, Noir Sauna, & American Chordata. Thom holds BAs in Literature and Creative Writing, as well as an MA in Literature, from Appalachian State University, in Boone, North Carolina. They are also a literary executor, archivist, and former mental health caregiver.
