Cultural Studies

Black Mask book cover.

Cultural studies combines diverse fields, including literary theory, critical theory, film and video studies, popular culture studies, sociology, and cultural anthropology to study cultural phenomena. Cultural studies researchers often concentrate on how a particular phenomenon relates to matters of ideology, race, sexuality, social class, and gender.

Our approach to cultural studies is distinguished by our commitment to theoretical approaches linking culture to the historical and social contexts in which it is produced and consumed.
