Since 1950, hundreds of distinguished UB alumni have been honored for their professional achievements, service to the university and impact on society — including CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, inventor Wilson Greatbatch, astronaut Ellen Schulman Baker and actor Winston Duke.
Nominations are now open for the 2026 UB Alumni Achievement Awards. Awards include the Samuel P. Capen Award, Walter P. Cooke Community Leadership Award, George W. Thorn Award (for graduates under 40), Clifford C. Furnas Memorial Award, International Distinguished Alumni Award and the Philip B. Wels Outstanding Service Award. In addition, schools will present achievement awards to their outstanding alumni.
Recipients will be recognized at a celebratory event during Homecoming 2026 in October.
The nomination form and award criteria can be found here. Nominations close Feb. 6.
Questions may be directed to Kristi Fields, senior director of alumni lifelong engagement.
