How much will you get? When will you receive the funds? Will you get your benefits during breaks? We’re here to help you understand what you can expect.
You must be certified by the certifying official at UB in order to receive your benefits.
The VA provides information about benefit rates.
(Your BAH rates change based on what benefit you use. For BAH rates, insert rank as E-5 and zip code as 14214. Your current BAH rate will be the dependent rate.)
For new applicants, it can take up to 12 weeks before the first payment is made. However, once approved for benefits, you will receive retroactive pay.
You will continue to receive your benefits through fall break and spring break as long as you are enrolled full-time during that semester.
You will only receive benefits for winter session and/or summer session if you are enrolled full-time during these sessions. If you are only enrolled for fall and/or spring semester, you will not receive benefits during the winter and summer sessions. Please contact the Veteran Services office for details.
If you are collecting VA benefits, you can have your monthly check sent directly to your checking account by enrolling in direct deposit. You can also enroll in direct deposit by calling 1-877-838-2778 or TDD 1-800-829-4833.
You must complete UB’s G.I. Bill Enrollment form once per semester (not every month) in order to receive VA educational benefits.

If your enrollment changes, you must also notify the UB certifying official at Veteran Services if you are a Chapter 30 veteran or Chapter 1606/1607. You must do this even though the change has been reported to the VA.
