Domestic Students

You are eligible to enroll in the domestic student plan if you:

• Do not have other medical coverage that is comparable to UB-sponsored insurance
• Are taking a minimum of 6 credit hours or are matriculated into a program with 1 credit hour

Students are insured through UnitedHealthcare Student Resources— a national provider with many participating doctors.

Coverage for dependents is available but not required by UB. If you are a student with a spouse and/or child who needs coverage, please list them on your enrollment form. See the enrollment form for more information, including premium costs.

Please see the chart on this page for deadlines. You can also apply anytime throughout the year (off-cycle) if you have a life-changing event that causes you to lose other health insurance coverage. Common events may include:

• Losing or gaining coverage through other insurance (because of your age, a change in a parent’s job, or other circumstances)
• Changes in your family (marriage, divorce, having a child, etc.)

Your application must be submitted within 30 days of loss of coverage, and your student account will be billed accordingly (prorated or with the additional premiums).
