Colleagues,

It is my pleasure to announce that Lee H. Melvin has been named the Vice Provost for Enrollment reporting through the Office of the Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs. A nationally respected leader in the field of enrollment management, Lee brings a strong record of administrative success including department leadership within admissions and financial aid to the University at Buffalo.

Lee’s appointment represents the culmination of an extensive national search that yielded a great number of highly competitive candidates. Lee possesses a holistic sense of enrollment management and has effectively implemented enrollment models that strengthened the former institutions he’s served at, including Cornell University as the Associate Vice Provost for Enrollment and the University of Connecticut as the Vice President for Enrollment Management. Lee will be on campus by mid-July.

There are many opportunities and challenges that define the future of UB. This appointment is crucial both to UB’s implementation of a strategic vision of enrollment, and to the entire university’s financial health. I am confident that Lee’s expertise, values, and vision will enable UB to set and reach enrollment goals that underpin the success of our broader academic mission.

I would like to thank Senior Vice Provost Scott Weber and all the members of the search committee for their excellent service which was critical to the successful outcome of this search.

Please join me in welcoming Lee to the university. I believe that you will find him a strong asset as we continue to effectively serve the needs of UB students, faculty, staff and alumni.

Best,

Charles F. Zukoski
Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs
