Guidance for Employees

January

1/1 New Year's Day

1/15 Martin Luther King Jr. Day
 

State — Essential services only. Classified employees required to work should receive either holiday pay or compensatory time off depending on their current election. UUP (those eligible to observe holidays) and M/C Professional employees who work should receive compensatory time off.
RF — Employees required to work on a holiday will receive holiday leave credit. Time off should be scheduled when convenient for the employee and supervisor. No employee may receive holiday leave credit in excess of hours normally worked.
UBF — Holiday compensation determined by employee’s department.

February

2/12 Lincoln's Birthday Observed

State — Floating holiday for UUP, M/C Professional, CSEA, PEF, and M/C Classified employees. Employees represented by these bargaining units who work should earn a floating holiday.
RF — Employees required to work on a holiday will receive holiday leave credit. Time off should be scheduled when convenient for the employee and supervisor. No employee may receive holiday leave credit in excess of hours normally worked.
UBF — Holiday compensation determined by employee’s department.


2/19 Washington's Birthday Observed

State —Classified employees who work should receive either holiday pay or compensatory time off, depending on their current election. UUP (those eligible to observe holidays) and M/C Professional employees who work should receive compensatory time off.

11/22 Thanksgiving Day

State — Essential services only. Classified employees required to work should be notified by their supervisor at least one week prior to the off at the rate of time and one-half holiday and should receive either holiday pay or compensatory time off, depending on their current election. CSEA employees earn holiday pay and compensatory time at time and one-half. UUP (those eligible to observe holidays) and M/C Professional employees should receive compensatory time.
RF — Employees required to work on a holiday will receive holiday leave credit. Time off should be scheduled when convenient for the employee and supervisor. No employee may receive holiday leave credit in excess of hours normally worked.
UBF — Holiday compensation determined by employee’s department.

 

11/23 Day After Thanksgiving

State — Not an official holiday; employees allowed to work if they choose. Employees who do not work should charge this day to the designated Election Day floating holiday. All other employees who do not work should charge accruals as appropriate.
RF — (Thanksgiving Friday) is not a holiday. Although the university is officially open, only essential services will be maintained. Employees who do not work should charge the day to available leave credits (excluding sick leave) or take leave without pay.
UBF — Holiday compensation determined by employee’s department.

December

12/25 Christmas Day

State — Essential services only. Classified employees required to work should be notified by their supervisor at least one week prior to the off at the rate of time and one-half holiday and should receive either holiday pay or compensatory time off, depending on their current election. CSEA employees earn holiday pay and compensatory time at time and one-half. UUP (those eligible to observe holidays) and M/C Professional employees should receive compensatory time.
