Criteria to apply
WiSE Student Ambassadors will represent a diverse array of academic majors and student experiences. To apply to be a WiSE Student Ambassador, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be a sophomore, junior, or senior in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences or the STEM departments in the College of Arts and Sciences (Mathematics, Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Geology, and Physics).
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5.
- Be flexible! We are counting on you to help us work through challenges and improve the program for future ambassadors. Your feedback and ideas are important, and you must be willing to share them.
Your role as a WiSE Student Ambassador
- Serve as a point of contact for current students, prospective students, and their families who are interested in learning more about the WiSE program, getting involved on campus, and their respective STEM majors. Respond to email inquiries promptly and check in with the online community regularly.
- Promote the WiSE program to peers.
- Support recruitment and orientation events at UB such as Accepted Students Day, Open Houses, Early Move-In, and Involvement Fairs. Ambassadors are required to support at least 3 events per semester.
- Be willing to help with other opportunities that may arise, including representing WiSE at campus events, lending a hand at programs throughout the semester, or reaching out to fellow WiSE students in need of support.
