Following a two-year renovation, UB officially hosted a grand re-opening for the Student Union, one of the most popular spots on campus. The new space features a light-filled lobby, student-friendly seating and a reimagined open staircase to the third floor.

“It definitely opened my eyes to how many opportunities there are in Buffalo,” explained Stephanie Newberger, ’26, reflecting on her time with UB’s WNY Sophomore Externship Experience program, which is supported through a gift from The Bryant Foundation.
At the Career Design Center’s STEAM Job + Internship Fair, students interested in science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics explored their career options and met directly with potential employers.
At UB, student veterans receive a custom “challenge coin” at commencement, which they present to a faculty or staff member who helped them earn their degree, symbolizing the team effort to serving veterans.
The new Landing at Ellicott gives students modern, welcoming spaces where they can enjoy all the perks of the on-campus living experience, including a video wall, privacy booths for studying, and the landmark “social stairs.”
Our UB Marching Band provides life experiences well beyond the classroom—including a memorable trip to another bowl game. “It felt like we were in paradise,” said one student, recalling the palm trees and sunshine at the Bahamas Bowl.
