The Division of University Communications (UC) drives high-quality, targeted communications efforts across UB. From consultations with campus partners to the execution of campaigns, we deliver strategies, products and solutions that meet the evolving needs of UB's internal and external audiences.
Our services include:
University Communications provides comprehensive consultation services to many departments and units to help them achieve their marketing and communications goals.
The UC editorial and visual communications teams produce creative, top-quality copy, design, photography and multimedia products that tell UB's story. We also develop and share visual and editorial standards, tools and templates via the online Communications Toolbox, and support the university’s trademarks and licensing program.
University Communications oversees UB's top-level Web presence and is responsible for setting digital communications standards and best practices for the university. As part of this mission, we lead and coach units engaged in the campus-wide Digital Communications Transformation (DCT) and provide user support for the UB Content Management System (UBCMS).
University Communications engages UB’s senior leaders, as well as colleagues across the university, in the development of internal and external communication strategies and tactics that build awareness and understanding of UB's position on issues affecting the university and its publics.
In the event of an emergency, University Communications will work with University Police and other campus officials to provide timely, pertinent information to the campus community through the Emergency website, MyUB, UB Alert email and text messages, social media and other channels.
University Communications is responsible for the university's brand and the stewardship of the strategy and platform that supports UB’s goals and advances the institution’s brand strength and market position. UC is also responsible for promoting the UB brand by taking it to market through a broad spectrum of channels.
The media relations team works closely with local and national media to identify newsworthy campus initiatives and research by our faculty, staff and students. We arrange press conferences, produce dynamic multimedia, and help our faculty, staff and students prepare for interviews and manage issues that may be of interest to the press.
Successful communications initiatives require ongoing research and proactive strategic planning. We apply both of these to our projects and to our consultative work with units at the university.
University Communications provides professional leadership and institution-level guidance for many of UB's internal and external communications initiatives, including UB 2020, the UB Reporter, talking points for campus leaders and more.
