Faculty mentors play a vital role in expanding opportunities for undergraduate research at the University at Buffalo. By listing a project, you invite students to participate in inquiry, creative exploration and applied learning within your field.

To list a project, simply complete and submit the form below. A member of the Office for Undergraduate Research team will review your submission, share a draft for your review, and publish the opportunity.
If you have questions at any point, please contact the Office for Undergraduate Research at undergrad-research@buffalo.edu.
The sections below outline the information students will see when exploring opportunities. Use this guidance as you prepare your submission.
Describe what the project entails and at least 3-5 sentences that ground the project in a broader context. Your description can be specific and concrete or broad to invite student participation in its design, but it should be written as you would like it to appear on the website. Consider including a compelling hook to pique students' interest.
Students earning the digital badge must submit a culminating work, referred to here as a project outcome, that demonstrates what they learned through the experience. This artifact becomes clickable evidence attached to the digital badge.
Examples of project outcomes include:
Use this section to describe what you expect the student’s final work to be.
Students will typically share their outcome with you for review and approval before submitting it to the Office for Undergraduate Research. Please plan time for this step with the student within your project timeline.
This section helps students determine whether a project is the right fit.
You may include information such as:
You may also choose to leave some details open for discussion with individual students during the selection process.
Before beginning a project, students complete preparation activities designed to help them understand the context of the work and set goals for the experience.
The Office for Undergraduate Research will guide students through goal setting and reflection as part of the preparation stage of the badge, which will also require students to submit a summary of the activities you list on your posting.
When submitting your project listing, you will select the types of activities students should complete. These activities will appear on the project listing so students know what to expect before beginning work with you.
Preparation activities may be general or specific, helping students gain a broader understanding of the context and systems surrounding your project. They may include, but are not limited to:
These activities help students enter the research experience with a stronger context, clearer goals and a deeper understanding of the work ahead.
