UB’s search to find a successor to President Satish K. Tripathi is progressing according to the timeline, with the search committee expecting to recommend a group of finalists to the UB Council for its consideration late this month.
In an email updating the UB community on the search, Council Chair Jerry Jacobs Jr., who also serves as chair of the Presidential Search Committee, noted that the search remains in a confidential phase, which includes candidate recruitment, candidate application review and candidate interviews.
“This is a rigorous stage of the process, focused on thorough vetting and in-depth conversations with candidates,” Jacobs said, adding that the applicant pool “is both strong and diverse, consisting of many highly accomplished individuals with a wide range of leadership experience.”
“The committee remains committed to conducting a comprehensive and thoughtful evaluation to identify leaders who align with UB’s values, mission and aspirations,” he said.
The committee anticipates it will recommend a group of finalists to the UB Council in late March, Jacobs said. The council will then forward its recommendations to SUNY Chancellor John B. King Jr., who will oversee the final steps of the selection process.
Jacobs thanked members of the UB community for their nominations and feedback throughout the search process.
“Your input has been incredibly valuable and continues to shape this important work,” he said. “On behalf of the entire search committee, thank you for your continued interest and trust as we move through this important search.”
Tripathi, UB’s 15th president, announced in September that he would step down as UB’s president in July and return to his faculty role.
