Published October 15, 2025

All UB employees are required to complete mandatory trainings for fall 2025. Information about where to find these trainings, who is required to complete each training and when they are due can be found below.

Title VI training: Due Oct. 31

SUNY mandates that all faculty, staff and student employees complete the Title VI training, which addresses discrimination based on race and national origin.

UB’s Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) has created a UB Learns course that includes modules for the mandatory Title VI and Sexual Harassment Prevention trainings, along with an optional Accessibility and Accommodations Training. These can be found under the “My Courses” section in UB Learns.

EDI is also offering one-hour Zoom sessions for those who prefer live trainings. These 60-minute trainings meet the requirements for both Title VI and sexual harassment prevention. Learn more and register for the training sessions on the EDI training website.

The Title VI training must be completed by Oct. 31. Contact EDI with any questions.

Sexual Harassment Prevention Training: Due Nov. 26
New York State requires all faculty, staff and student employees to complete the mandatory Sexual Harassment Prevention Training.

Both the Sexual Harassment Prevention and Title VI trainings can be found in the “My Courses” section of UB Learns. It also includes optional content about Accessibility and Accommodations.

EDI is also offering one-hour Zoom sessions for those who prefer live trainings. These 60-minute trainings meet the requirements for both Title VI and sexual harassment prevention. Learn more and register for the training sessions on the EDI training website.

The Sexual Harassment Prevention Training must be completed by Nov. 26. Contact EDI with any questions.

Workplace Violence Prevention Annual Training: Due Dec. 15

NYS requires all faculty, staff and student employees to complete Workplace Violence Prevention Annual Training. This course prepares individuals to recognize early signs of potential workplace violence and outlines appropriate contacts should such a situation arise.

State, Research Foundation and UB Foundation staff and faculty — excluding adjuncts — can complete the training through UB Edge. Adjunct professors, graduate employees, teaching assistants, graduate assistants, student assistants, practice plan employees, medical residents and fellows and volunteer appointments can access the training through UB Learns. Instructions are here.

The Workplace Violence Prevention Annual Training is due Dec. 15. Contact the Office of Employee Relations with any questions.

NYS Ethics Training: Due Dec. 31

NYS requires all state employees — including student employees — to complete ethics training, which provides an overview of the ethics laws that apply to all state employees. This training is offered by the NYS Commission on Ethics and Lobbying in Government.

Research Foundation and UB Foundation employees are not required to complete this training.

Employees hired before 2025 can sign up for on-demand ethics training. Employees hired during 2025 can register for a live Comprehensive Ethics Training Course. These trainings require a state agency name (SUNY at Buffalo) and your employee ID (which can be found in the upper left-hand corner of your paystub).

The NYS ethics training is due Dec. 31. Contact Kara Kearney-Saylor, director of internal audit and ethics officer, with any questions.
