UB’s 2013 Employees Campaign for the Community has raised $485,134, or 57 percent of its goal of $850,000.

The amount raised as of Nov. 14 is based on the response of 26 percent of UB employees who have either made a gift or declined.

The campaign features a number of incentives to encourage employee to donate to the campaign. Only those individuals who have made a donation to the campaign are eligible to win. Prizes will be awarded every Thursday and all employees who make a donation by midnight the previous night will be eligible to win. Winners will be posted on the campaign web site under “news.”

Winners of the Nov. 7 drawing are Christine H. Gleason, Physics, and Frank Tierney, Campus Living, both of whom received $15 gift certificates to Curley’s Grill & Banquet Center, and Gregory J. Howland, CIT, who received two guest passes to the Buffalo & Erie County Botanical Gardens.

Winners of the Nov. 14 drawing are Gersh Berim, School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, who received a Darwin Martin House package (four coffee mugs, a photo of architecturally significant buildings in Buffalo and two tickets for the Martin house tour), and Kristin M. Gniazdowski, School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, who received two tickets for the Sanjay Gupta Distinguished Speaker Series lecture on March 26.

Prizes still to be awarded include:

  • Nov. 21: A 50-minute massage gift certificate and a Hewlett-Packard ENVY 120 color printer
  • Dec. 5: Four tickets to the April 26 Distinguished Speaker Series event with magician David Blaine and six tickets to the men’s basketball game on Jan. 11 against Eastern Michigan and food at the game
  • Dec. 12: A special parking pass for the spring 2014 semester; SaveAround coupon books offering discounts on food, recreation and entertainment in Western New York, to be awarded to three employees; and a $50 Tim Hortons gift certificate.

In addition to the individual prizes, a grand prize will be awarded on Nov. 20 to the UB unit that has the highest percentage increase in donors from last year’s campaign to this year’s campaign through Nov. 20. That prize is 16 tickets — for eight employees and their guests — plus parking to the UB Bulls football game vs. Bowling Green on Nov. 29 in Ralph Wilson Stadium.
