Certified Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt One-on-One

UB Crest on yellow background.

This course introduces participants to the fundamentals of Lean Six Sigma with a strong emphasis on practical application rather than adding complexity. Learners gain an understanding of how data‑driven thinking supports better decision‑making and sustainable process improvement across any industry. Learners can immediately apply the concepts, tools, and the DMAIC problem‑solving methodology to real work situations.

Topics include:

  • DMAIC and structured problem solving using a data‑driven approach
  • Lean fundamentals, customer‑focused process thinking, and identification of waste
  • Practical application of core Lean Six Sigma tools to support improvement efforts

The course features online lectures, conversations about Lean Six Sigma, and perspectives from industry professionals in addition to a physical coursebook for you to keep. Thought-provoking questions at the end of each section allow you to reflect and assess your knowledge gained through the course. In addition, there are one-on-one mentoring sessions to help guide in applying the methodology and tools to a problem in your organization.

Certification requires passing a final exam and completing a successful project at the candidate’s place of work. Successful projects require access to relevant resources and data.

Hours: 15 hours of asynchronous online education and 6 hours of personal mentoring/coaching from a Certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt; mentoring is conducted virtually.
