This asynchronous course explores the essential concepts of Lean, providing a foundation for you to enhance problem-solving skills and drive continuous improvement within your organization. At the end you’ll have a solid understanding of Lean principles and techniques, empowering you to participate in improvement projects and contribute to your organizations' success.

Topics Include:

  • 5 Lean Fundamentals
  • 8 Wastes
  • Creating Problem and Goal Statements
  • 5 Why Analysis

The course features access to online lectures, conversations about Lean, and perspectives from industry professionals in addition to a physical coursebook for you to keep.  Online quizzes and practice exercises help assess your knowledge.

  • Distinguish waste and its different forms in an organization
  • Recognize effective problem-solving skills

Range of positions at any type of organization, from shop floor employees to executives

Credential Opportunities

  • Digital badge: Anyone who completes the course and submits a satisfactory written response to TCIE-generated questions earns a digital badge.
  • Continuing Education Units (CEUs): TCIE grants 0.6 CEUs upon full attendance and participation of this course.
  • Professional Development Hours (PDHs): TCIE grants 6 PDHs upon full attendance and participation of this course for a fee of $25.

Course Schedule

This is an asynchronous online course with 30-days of access.

Start on the first Monday of any month you choose, as long as payment has been received by the 15th of the preceding month. Materials and course acesss will then be sent before or on your start date.
