ROT Ambassador Network

Help lead UB's transition to campus-wide sustainability

As a ROT Ambassador, you'll support your colleagues through UB's transition to the new waste-sorting system. You'll answer questions, provide guidance, and help make the change feel manageable for everyone in your area.

What is a ROT Network

A network of UB employees and students who help their colleagues understand and adapt to the new ROT system. This is a short-term volunteer role focused on peer support during the campus transition.

Why We Need ROT Ambassadors

Make the Transition Easier: Help your colleagues feel confident about the new system by answering their questions and showing them how it works. You'll reduce confusion and make the change less stressful for everyone.

Share What Really Works: Have honest conversations with your coworkers about their concerns and experiences. Your insights help us improve the program and address real problems people are facing.

Bridge Communication Gaps: Be the connection between your department and the sustainability team. You'll share important updates with your colleagues and bring their feedback back to the project team.

Speed Up Success: When people have a trusted peer to turn to, they adapt faster. Your support helps your building reach its sustainability goals more quickly and with less frustration.

Your Role

✅  Answer basic sorting questions: ("Where does this go?") and help colleagues feel confident using the new system

✅ Share updates and celebrate progress: Keep your area informed about conversion timelines and celebrate when you hit sustainability milestones

✅ Listen and connect: Hear concerns from colleagues and help them find solutions or connect them with the right resources

✅  Stay engaged with the program: Attend monthly virtual meetings to get updates and share feedback, plus review toolkit materials to stay informed

Time Commitment

  • 2-hour initial training session
  • Monthly 1-hour virtual meetings to stay updated

What We Provide

You'll start with comprehensive training on the ROT system and common questions, plus receive a toolkit of quick-reference materials for ongoing support. When complex questions come up that you can't answer, you'll have a direct line to the sustainability team for backup.

We'll keep you informed with regular updates about the program, and most importantly, we'll recognize and celebrate your contributions as an ambassador. Your efforts won't go unnoticed.

Make Real Impact

You'll be part of a select group helping UB achieve 90% waste diversion by 2030, driving meaningful environmental change with visible results you can see across campus.
