Foster Hall—UB’s first building constructed on the Main Street Campus (South Campus)—has been fully transformed with a modern technology infrastructure designed and supported by UBIT.
The University at Buffalo aligns with a statewide and SUNY ban on DeepSeek AI following concerns about foreign government surveillance and data security. Faculty, staff and students must not download or access DeepSeek AI on UB-owned devices or when using UB networks.
The UB Remote Desktop Gateway service is retiring March 23, 2026. Students, faculty, and staff can connect to UB VPN with their devices to access important UB services off campus.
UB Information Technology (UBIT) is collaborating with the Department of AI and Society with the BullsAI Platform, designed to bring artificial intelligence directly into the classroom. Pilot phases are currently underway.
Starting Fall 2025, UB will phase out Jabber, which will retire by the end of the year. UB faculty and staff will instead have the ability to make phone calls using Cisco Call in Microsoft Teams.
