Get ready for one of the most energetic nights of the semester. Grab your friends, build a team, and compete in a fast-paced Broomball Tournament in the Triple Gym. No experience needed. Just bring your team spirit and get ready for some fun competition.
Each team must have 6 players on the court at a time with a maximum roster of 9 players.
On the court:
Start of the Game: Each game begins with a face-off at center court.
Moving the Ball: Players move the ball by passing, dribbling, or shooting using their broom. Kicking the ball into the goal is not allowed.
Scoring: A goal is counted when the entire ball crosses the goal line.
Goalie: The goalie typically stays in the crease area. Goalies may use their body to block shots.
Physical Contact: Checking and rough contact are not allowed. Broomball is meant to be competitive but safe.
Game Format: Games will typically be played in two halves of 15–20 minutes each, ot three short periods depending on tournament flow.
Common Fouls: Players may be penalized for high sticking (raising the broom above waist or shoulder level depending on rules), tripping, holding or pushing, intentionally kicking the ball.
