Make Yourself at Home

The Living Room is a weekly drop-in program in the REC Lounge where you can study, relax, connect with friends, or enjoy casual recreation between classes.

The space includes:

  • Comfortable lounge seating and study areas
  • Board games, card games, foosball, and more
  • A community bookshelf
  • Space to gather with friends
  • Themed activities during select sessions

There is no registration or set agenda. Arrive and leave whenever you like during program hours, participate in an activity, get some work done, or simply enjoy the space at your own pace.

Bring your laptop, headphones, books, coursework, or anything else you need for your visit.

The Living Room is available during the following hours:

Monday 2 PM - 8 PM
Tuesday 2 PM - 8 PM
Wednesday 2 PM - 8 PM
Thursday 2 PM - 8 PM
Friday CLOSED
Saturday CLOSED
Sunday CLOSED

Access

The Living Room is open to all UB students and REC Members with a valid UB Recreation membership during scheduled program hours.

A valid UB ID or Recreation membership card is required for entry.

Location

The Living Room is located in the REC Lounge on the second floor of Broadview Arena. The easiest way to access the space is through Club Fitness (Rooms 144-149) using the stairs or elevator.

Stop in during program hours and stay as long as you'd like.

Community Standards

Our REC Programming is built on shared respect. Every participant plays a part in creating a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable environment.

Participants help by:

  • Treating the REC Lounge, furniture, games, books, and shared equipment with care.
  • Returning games, books, and other shared materials after use.
  • Cleaning up after themselves and disposing of trash and recyclables before leaving.
  • Keeping conversations at a respectful volume and being mindful of others who may be studying or working.
  • Sharing games, seating, and common spaces so everyone has an opportunity to enjoy the lounge.
  • Bringing only covered beverages into the space.
    (Food is not permitted.)
  • Keeping personal belongings with them at all times. UB Recreation is not responsible for lost or unattended items.
  • Reporting damaged equipment or safety concerns to a staff member.
  • Following posted policies and staff instructions.
