  • Felder Wins Academy Award for Music From American Academy of Arts And Letters

    David Felder, PhD, SUNY Distinguished Professor and Birge-Cary Chair in Composition in the University at Buffalo Department of Music, widely regarded as one of America's finest composers of contemporary classical music, has received the American Academy of Arts and Letters' 2010 Academy Award in Music.
  • Play, Films, Speakers Recall Rwandan Genocide and Honor the Life of Alison Des Forges

    The celebrated one-woman play Miracle in Rwanda, which tells the story of a Rwandan woman who survived her country's 1994 horrifying genocide, will be performed on Feb. 11-13 at the University at Buffalo in memory of the late human-rights activist, historian and MacArthur Fellow Alison L. Des Forges.

    Colleen Darby, an artist in residence in the University at Buffalo Center for the Arts' Arts in Healthcare Program in Women and Children's Hospital of Buffalo, has been selected to create a mural for ABC Television's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" project currently underway at 228 Massachusetts Ave. in Buffalo.
  • UB Launches Arts, Entertainment and Media Symposium in New York City

    The University at Buffalo will announce its next UBC2C (UB Coast to Coast) symposium on arts, entertainment and media tomorrow in the Friars Club in New York City. UB alumnus, Alan Zweibel, BA '72, multi-Emmy Award-winning writer/producer/playwright, who began his very successful career as part of the original "Saturday Night Live" writing team, will host the event.

    A film by Emmy-award winning artist and filmmaker Elliot Caplan, "15 Days of Dance: The Making of 'Ghost Light,'" produced and developed at the University at Buffalo, will receive its premiere screening this month at Lincoln Center.
