Siwei Lyu is an expert on machine learning and digital media, including the detection of deepfakes and other digital forgeries.

Lyu’s research has included the development of technologies for spotting deepfakes (highly realistic fake videos) and manipulated images through audio, visual and other forensics. His team has also studied methods for authenticating non-digital art.

In the realm of computer vision, Lyu has worked on projects that include improving the way computers recognize and detect objects, track objects and understand human activity.
