UB names leader for AI institute

The Buffalo News reports that UB has named Siwei Lyu as the new director of the Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. “UB continues to deepen its commitment to responsibly harnessing AI and data science to address critical societal challenges,” said Venu Govindaraju, senior vice president for research, innovation and economic development. “We are excited that Siwei Lyu, who is among the world’s foremost authorities in digital media forensics and an expert in machine learning and computer vision, will assume leadership of IAD."
