Portrait of Anthony D. Martinez.

Anthony D. Martinez is a nationally and internationally recognized leader in viral hepatitis, metabolic liver disease, also known as fatty liver disease, addiction medicine, and HIV care. He can talk to media about hepatitis C virus and other liver conditions and the importance of screening among different populations including pregnant women. He can discuss the importance of the connection between liver disease and addiction disorders and how his clinic La Bodega works to treat both simultaneously. The clinic had been cited by the White House as a model for national hepatitis C virus elimination.

Martinez is also an expert in diagnosing and treating fatty liver disease, also called Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatohepatitis (MASH), which has been rapidly increasing especially among younger patients and how early screening should be more widely adopted. He can also talk about how patients of Hispanic, Latino and Chicano descent may have genetic mutations that put them at much higher risk for fatty liver disease.

He has been recognized by national and international organizations, such as the Coalition for Global Hepatitis Elimination.

He is a physician with UBMD Internal Medicine.
