K Scholar Application Information

A two-stage process will be used to select candidates: pre-proposals and full applications. Prospective candidates should:

• Have a faculty appointment as assistant professor (eligible for tenure) at the time of the award

• Have a strong commitment to a research career and be able to commit 75% of effort to research and training related activities

• Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the United States

• Have not previously received funding as principal investigator of a major federal research award (e.g. R01)

• Meet the eligibility criteria for a subsequent individual NIH K award (those having received a K award or have a K submission under review are not eligible)

K Scholar pre-proposals process closed October 6.

Communications will continue with individuals selected to submit full applications.
