National Humanities Center Residential Fellow

Considered among the most prestigious fellowships in the world, the National Humanities Center residential fellowships provide scholars with the resources necessary to generate new knowledge and to further understanding of all forms of cultural expression, social interaction, and human thought.

Ana Mariella Bacigalupo

Department of Anthropology

Ana Mariella Bacigalupo, PhD, professor of anthropology, has gained national and international recognition for her groundbreaking scholarship on the Mapuche shamans and people. A prolific scholar, Bacigalupo has published five books and over sixty journal articles and essays. Her research has been supported by numerous prestigious fellowships and grants including from, among others, the Guggenheim Foundation, Max Planck Institute, Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, Rockefeller Foundation, National Endowment for the Humanities, and Wenner Gren Foundation. For 2023-24, Bacigalupo has received a highly prestigious National Humanities Center Residential Fellowship in support of her current project, “The Subversive Politics of Sentient Mountains: Collective Ethics and Climate Justice in Northern Peru.”
