How can dentistry be more precise and personalized?

AI, virtual reality, and data science connect dental training, surgical precision and biological discovery. Research develops immersive practice tools, integrates digital and microsurgical methods for surgical planning and care and pairs AI with genetic analysis to identify host-modulation therapies for periodontal disease. Collaboration can advance safer procedures, earlier interventions and personalized treatment.

  • Kenny Joseph in front of social imagery.

How can generative AI help build equitable socio-technical systems?

Research uses computational methods and generative AI to examine how gender, race, political framing, polarization and social relationships evolve across global radio broadcasts, political podcasts and online conversations. The work also identifies patterns in online social support, informing responsible generative AI use in mental-health discussions and measures of connection in equitable digital environments.

How can biological networks better health?

Network-based optimization integrates graph modeling, mathematical methods and biological data to study health and disease as interconnected systems. Rather than isolating components, this work identifies patterns, key drivers, pathways and intervention points. Collaboration can help translate system-level insights into targeted strategies for understanding biology, improving health and treating disease.

How do we know what's real online?

DeepFake-o-meter is a public AI-forensics platform that combines detection methods to assess whether images, video and audio may be authentic, manipulated or AI-generated. Recognizing that no single detector works reliably across every media type, AI generator or real-world setting, it makes confidence, limitations and disagreement among forensic signals visible to support transparent media-authentication research.
