Campaign for the Community

About the Campaign

The UB Employees Campaign for the Community started in 1976 as part of the State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA). For over 45 years, the campaign has given all university employees and retirees a way to make a meaningful contribution to charitable organizations worldwide.

Our campaign consistently ranks among the most successful of its kind among the nation’s colleges and universities. UB donors can choose to contribute to any of more than 2,800 health, human service, educational, environmental and cultural organizations. Historically, over 80 percent of the money raised through the campaign has been designated for agencies in the Buffalo-Niagara region. These donations help tens of thousands of our fellow community members by providing services that align closely with UB’s priorities for community engagement in the areas of health and wellness, neighborhood revitalization, economic development, and pre-K-16 education.

Dear UB Colleagues,

We are honored to serve as chair and vice chair of the 2025 UB Employees Campaign for the Community. Year after year, UB faculty and staff have demonstrated a remarkable tradition of generosity, making this one of the most impactful university employee giving campaigns in the state. Together, we have shown what it means to be a university deeply connected to—and invested in—our community.

This year, we invite you to carry that tradition forward with renewed energy. The Campaign for the Community makes it easy for all of us to support the causes that matter most—whether that’s advancing wellness, promoting literacy, protecting our environment, or strengthening the organizations that form the heart of Buffalo Niagara and beyond.

Your contributions do more than provide resources. They ensure that children can dream big and achieve their potential. They help families find stability and security. They support healthier lives, stronger neighborhoods, and brighter futures. In every way, your giving embodies the spirit of UB—lifting others, transforming lives, and helping to build stronger, healthier, thriving communities.

We hope you’ll join us once again in showing what’s possible when UB comes together. With your enthusiastic support of the 2025 UB Employees Campaign for the Community, we can continue to move our region—and our neighbors—forward.

With best regards,
