Additional Details

Is there an interview and vetting process for tutor-mentor selection?

Prospective tutor-mentors will be interviewed and assessed on their ability to provided academic support. After completing a successful interview, all tutor-mentors must complete and pass all NYS fingerprinting requirements and receive ongoing professional development.

Will there be training and ongoing professional development support for tutor-mentors?

Tutor-mentors receive culturally responsive training and ongoing professional development that will set them up for success.

Who are the students being tutored through this program?

Students in grades 3-12 in Buffalo Public Schools or Erie 1 BOCES.

What grade/learning levels are covered?

  • 3rd-6th
  • 7th-8th
  • 9th-12th

What format is tutoring administered?

Academic guidance is offered by appointment in one-to-one online tutoring sessions

What is the timeframe to provide tutor-mentoring services?

Tutoring is offered Monday thru Thursday between 2:30–8:00 p.m. Appointment time slots are dependent on tutor-mentor availability.
