The New York Times publishes UB scientist's op-ed about caffeinated energy drinks

An opinion piece in The New York Times by Kathleen Miller, senior research scientist at UB’s Research Institute on Addictions, about the decision by CVS to stop selling tobacco products suggests the drug store chain should also consider discontinuing sales of caffeinated energy drinks to kids under the age of 18. “Because caffeine is widely used and generally considered safe in moderate doses, we too often forget it is a psychoactive drug – and potentially dangerous in larger amounts, particularly for children,” she writes.
