About Us

CRIA, 1021 Main Street, Buffalo.

CRIA is located on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus at 1021 Main Street, just north of downtown Buffalo.

The University at Buffalo Clinical and Research Institute on Addictions (CRIA) is a national leader in the advancement and dissemination of knowledge on substance use disorders.

For nearly 50 years, we have conducted groundbreaking research on challenging addiction issues, including the neurobiological underpinnings of addiction; pathways to substance use, misuse and addiction; social and health consequences of substance use and misuse; and developing and improving addiction treatment.

CRIA scientists are members of multiple departments and schools within UB, allowing CRIA to explore interdisciplinary methods to address addiction issues. Our scientists work in collaborative research teams that foster innovative, interdisciplinary methods of exploring addiction issues. We regularly collaborate with colleagues from the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, the SUNY system and other research centers and universities throughout the United States.

Located on UB’s Downtown Campus, CRIA is a key contributor to the university’s reputation for research excellence and a proud member of the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus.
