Good morning!

It is wonderful to be here with all of you to celebrate this impactful investment in the health of our community.

First and foremost, I would like to thank Congressman Higgins for his longstanding support of UB. In so many significant ways, he has demonstrated his commitment to our university. And this commitment, in turn, has enabled UB to contribute meaningfully to the well-being of our great region.

In securing this federal funding for Western New York, Congressman Higgins has, once again, articulated his dedication to UB’s mission of excellence—and we are most appreciative!

Like Congressman Higgins, we recognize and value the critical role that transformative research and exemplary clinical care play in improving health care outcomes.

This mobile health clinic will enhance our ability to do just that.

As a public research university, UB is driven by our mission to partner with the members of our community so we can better understand—and best address—the health needs of our region.

By focusing on the needs of our neighbors who are medically underserved, we will work in concert with our community to achieve health equity—a goal that we have long shared with Congressman Higgins.

Improving health outcomes has so many positive ramifications. Good health helps children fare better in school. It helps parents thrive in their home and professional lives. It helps families fully contribute to the vitality of their community. As a result, it contributes to our region’s overall prosperity and quality of life.

With this federal funding secured by Congressman Higgins—and the mobile health unit that this investment makes possible—UB will continue to uphold our mission of serving the greater good.

On behalf of the University at Buffalo, I would like to again express my gratitude to Congressman Higgins for making such a positive difference in the lives of families, neighborhoods, and communities across Western New York.

Thank you!
