Membership and Session Policies

  • Presenters can participate in only one session of each type: panel/seminar (both paper-based), roundtable, creative, etc.
  • Registrants at NeMLA may not present the same abstract/paper on two different sessions.
  • Please pay for NeMLA convention registration by December 9.
  • A late fee of $25 will be added after December 9, 11:59 PM Eastern, $50 thereafter.

Submitting Abstracts

  • Abstracts should be 200-300 words in length, and abstract titles should not exceed 100 characters.
  • Under "Public Visibility Settings," participants may opt-in to have their abstract or short bio published online.

Audiovisual Requests and Wireless Internet

  • Please indicate whether you need an A/V projector when you submit your paper abstract online. For speakers, contact support.
  • Audiovisual equipment available for sessions include projectors, projector screens, and VGA cables.
  • NeMLA does not provide laptops. Please bring your own computer to connect via VGA to the projector.
  • Please bring a projector adapter with you.
  • Internet access in breakout rooms is not guaranteed. You are welcome to use your own mobile device for Internet, including as a mobile hotspot/wireless router tether.
  • Internet is usually available in each guest room and in the lobby. Hotel guests may need to sign up for the hotel's rewards or loyalty program prior to arrival to get free internet.

Absenteeism

  • Unless circumstances demand the conference go virtual, NeMLA does not allow papers to be read in absentia, via webcam, or other telecommunication.
  • Panelists should inform their chair as soon as possible if they intend to withdraw.
  • If chairs themselves are not able to attend, it is their responsibility to find someone else to chair the session and to email to alert us of the change.
  • Registration fees may be refunded if the convention participant emails support@nemla.org of their need to withdraw from the program at least six weeks prior to the opening of the convention. Membership fees are non-refundable. A $20 service fee will be deducted from all registration refunds.

Livetweeting

NeMLA encourages livetweeting our sessions but asks that you do so responsibly and with respect to our presenters: make sure to attribute the ideas to the speaker, and if you are planning to tweet more than 20% of the talk, ask permission from the presenter before doing so.

NeMLA provides Certificates of Attendance and Participation by request only. Please email the following information:

  • your name
  • the title(s) of your presentation(s)
