Clinical researchers, coordinators invited to CTSA Open House

A CTSA Open House will be held on Monday, December 12, starting at 11:30 a.m., in the Clinical and Translational Research Center, rooms 5018 A & B, on the downtown Buffalo Medical Campus, to bring visitors up to date on the latest developments. Researchers and research coordinators from across the Buffalo Translational Consortium (BTC) are encouraged to attend.

A welcoming reception with a working lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. Posters of select CTSA cores will be on display. Presentations begin at noon highlighting the support and services available through the following CTSA cores:

Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Research Design
Biomedical Informatics
Clinical Research Office (Core Resources and Research Navigation)
Community Engagement
Workforce Development and KL2 Award Program
Imaging Center
Drug Development and BTC Core Laboratories

In addition, Jonathan Blaisure, senior database architect at the Institute for Healthcare Informatics, is going to introduce a new way for you to access the i2b2 (Informatics for Integrating Biology and the Bedside) platform, which could have a transformative impact on the way you use clinical data in your research.

If you couldn’t make it to one of the CTSA Road Shows held in your department or school this fall, the Open House is also an opportunity for clinical researchers to meet the faculty and staff of the CTSA, and tour the Clinical and Translational Research Center, including the Clinical Research Center and Clinical Research Office. Tours will follow after the presentations, beginning at about 1:30 p.m.

The University at Buffalo Clinical and Translational Research Center (CTRC) is located at 875 Ellicott Street on the downtown Buffalo medical campus. Visitor parking is available at the Michigan-Goodrich (MiGo) Garage at 134 High Street. Cost is up to $8 for the day.
