Digital Badges

A digital badge is a type of credential that allows you to show the specific skills you’ve gained through learning experiences. It’s a clickable icon that can display your work and accomplishments to key audiences, such as future employers or graduate schools, when embedded on your digital resume, UB Portfolio or LinkedIn.

To earn a digital badge, you’ll complete activities divided into three phases. You’ll work at your own pace, and once you complete all activities, you’ll be awarded your digital badge. You can share it on your resume, UB Portfolio, or LinkedIn to demonstrate your skills and accomplishments to future employers or graduate schools.

Note: To get started, find a project and follow the steps in the project profile.

• Set goals and intentions.
• Gain important project-specific context and understanding of the topic.

• Work with your project mentor to complete your project.
• Produce and submit your final project outcome (for example, a research poster, PowerPoint slideshow, or another academic artifact) that will be attached to your digital badge so you can showcase your achievements.

• Evaluate your growth in skills and competencies
• Critically reflect on your experience through multiple lenses.
• Weave your experience into a compelling narrative employers will value.

• You will earn the digital badge after completing all three phases.
• Share it with future employers or graduate schools on your resume, UB Portfolio or LinkedIn profile.
• Your final project outcome will be attached to your badge icon—helping you stand out with a professional example of your work.
