  • Mentoring applications still accepted

    The Professional Staff Senate has extended the deadline for submission of applications to participate in its mentoring program until Oct. 22.

    The goal of the program is to provide formal or informal mentoring to UB professional staff. The program will match protégés with mentors from UB’s professional staff who have the experience, knowledge and insight to assist the protégé in meeting his or her goals in technical, career, leadership or professional development areas.

    The Oct. 22 deadline applies to applications from both prospective mentors and protégés.

    More information, guidelines and application forms for both mentors and protégés are available on the PSS website.

  • Nutrition workshop set

    Ever wonder why eating certain foods seem to satisfy you more than others? Do you often have regrets about finishing that bag of cookies? Want to change your eating habits?

    You’re not alone.

    Dietician and nutritionist Mary Jo Parker will talk about what may be driving these eating behaviors and what you can do about them during a free workshop from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 7 in the Center for Tomorrow, North Campus. A healthy lunch will be served.

    The workshop is presented by UB’s Employee Assistance Program and Wellness & Work/Life Balance.

  • New ways to look at retirement

    The UB Office of Gift Planning will present a financial seminar titled “No Rules Retirement: New Perspectives from Mid-Life to Beyond” from 9-11 a.m. Oct. 30 in the Center for Tomorrow, North Campus.

    Seminar presenter Christine Mathieu is the author of “From Wisdom to Wealth: Insights to Creating Your Path to Wealth.” She has 20 years’ experience as a financial advisor and writes a money column for Buffalo Magazine and a blog, That Money Girl.

    In the seminar, Mathieu will discuss new ways to think about your money, your future and your work, including how to embrace retirement as an opportunity to stretch your comfort zones, explore new possibilities and contribute to family and community.
