  • PSS offers tours of UB

    Behind the Scenes at UB, a free tour of units and programs on the North, South and Downtown campuses sponsored by the Professional Staff Senate, will begin on Oct. 13 with a tour of the downtown medical campus.

    The tour, to be led by Patrick J. Whalen, chief operating office for the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, will stop at UB’s New York State Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Life Sciences, the UB Gateway Building, and sites of new construction, including UB’s Clinical and Translational Research Center, Kaleida Health’s long-term nursing facilty and a new parking garage at High Street and Michigan Avenue.

    Participants can board the bus at 11:30 a.m. at the Lee Loop, North Campus, and at 11:45 at the Main Circle on the South Campus.

    Other Behind the Scenes at UB tours this semester include a tour of the new Greiner Residence Hall, North Campus, on Nov. 8 and Barbara and Jack Davis Hall, the new engineering building, on Dec. 15.

    To register for any of the tours, email pssenate@buffalo.edu. Each tour has a limited capacity, so sign up early.

  • Medicaid seminar set

    UB’s Office of Gift Planning will hold a free seminar titled “What You Need to Know about Medicaid” at 9 a.m. Oct. 12 in the Center for Tomorrow, North Campus.

    The seminar will focus on such topics as how simple revisions to your will can protect your assets, how to protect your home if you or your spouse requires long-term care and how trusts can protect your estate from Medicaid liens.

    It will be led by Lisa Allen, an attorney who concentrates her practice in life and asset planning, focusing on trusts and estates.
