  • UUP to offer free bullying webinar

    To help combat the growing problem of workplace bullying in higher education, the Buffalo Center Chapter of United University Professions is hosting a webinar titled “Academic Bullying: Workplace Bullying and Civility in Academia” from 2-3:30 p.m. April 27 in 31 Capen Hall, North Campus.

    The webinar is free to all UUP members. Presenters will explore workplace bullying as an extreme type of social stress and discuss how the academic culture can create an antagonistic environment. Job stress will be examined as an antecedent and a consequence of bullying dynamics among and between faculty members, administrators, students and other academic employees.

    Attendees will learn about potential interventions into bully workplace cultures and how to identify and address bullying here at UB.

  • PSS to meet

    The Professional Staff Senate will hold its final general membership meeting of the academic year at 3 p.m. April 28 in the Center for Tomorrow, North Campus.

    Speakers will include Craig Abbey, director of the Office of Institutional Analysis, who will talk about the duties and responsibilities of his office, and James Gordon, lead programmer analyst, University Libraries, who will discuss how professional staff members can recognize their professional accomplishments.

    All members of the professional staff are invited to attend.

    The PSS will hold its annual Awards Luncheon from noon to 2 p.m. May 11 in the Center for Tomorrow. More details will be published as they become available.
