  • Class for caregivers set

“Powerful Tools for Caregivers,” a six-week program designed to provide those taking care of others the tools needed to take care of themselves as well, is being offered in April by UB’s Employee Assistance Program.

The weekly sessions will be held from 4-6:30 p.m. April 6, 13, 20, 27 and May 4 and 11 in 430 Kimball Tower, South Campus.

The program is designed to help caregivers learn to reduce stress, improve their self-confidence, better communicate their feelings, increase their ability to make tough decisions, locate helpful resources and balance their lives.

The cost of the course is $25, which includes a copy of “The Caregiver Helpbook,” but is fully covered for all Independent Health and Blue Cross & Blue Shield of WNY health insurance members.

It is supported by a grant from the Community Health Foundation of Western and Central New York and co-sponsored by UB, the School of Public Health and Health Professions and the Erie County Caregiver Coalition.

Pre-registration is required. Those interested in attending should call 858-2177 or email caregiver@erie.gov for more information and to register.
