Recreation and Intramural Services has increased fitness opportunities for residents of the South Campus with a recently completed expansion of the cardio facilities in Clark Hall.

The $20,000 renovation project converted the old football locker room in Clark into a state-of-the art cardio room. The new facility has 23 new cardio machines, nearly doubling the number of machines previously available, says Marcus A. Hutchins, director of recreation and intramural services. Sixteen of the machines feature televisions, he adds.

The new cardio room is “a direct result of the significantly increasing numbers of users that we have had at Clark Hall over the past two years,” Hutchins says. “Our students, faculty and staff have requested that we invest in the facilities, and projects like this have been our response to that request.”

He noted that R&I staff is available to assist patrons regarding the Clark Hall facilities and the use of equipment. R&I plans to continue to add cardio equipment to the new facility as the budget allows, he adds.
