Nagesh S. Revankar, professor emeritus in the Department of Economics and a UB faculty member for more than 50 years, died Oct. 23. He was 86.
Revankar joined the UB faculty in 1967, specializing in econometrics. During his time at the university, he produced significant research articles in econometrics, which were published in leading peer-reviewed journals. He also served in various administrative capacities, including as department chair, as well as director of graduate studies.
He retired in 2020.
Revankar was born in 1936 in a small village on the west coast of India. He obtained a BA in mathematics from S.P. College Pune in 1958 and a MA in statistics from University of Pune in 1960. He earned a PhD in economics from the University of Wisconsin in 1967.
In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling, gardening, fixing things around the house and spending time with family.
Services were held on Oct. 27.
