Susan A. Michel-Giolando, a longtime UB employee, died Dec. 22.

Michel-Giolando joined the UB staff in 1987 as a keyboard specialist in the Poetry/Rare Book Collection in University Libraries. She moved to CIT Academic Services in 2001, where she coordinated new student orientation services, provided updates to computer lab documentation and provided Web research results on a variety of topics.

She joined CIT Instructional Technology Services in 2004 as assistant UBlearns administrator responsible for assisting faculty with the use of UBlearns, including course design, course communications and grading.

She retired from UB in 2014, following two health-related leaves of absence.

Robin Sullivan, online learning specialist with the Center for Educational Innovation who worked with Michel-Giolando, says “she always had a smile and was a go-to resource for the entire campus for UBlearns support.”
