Management launches new program

Experienced business leaders looking to solve complex organizational challenges through rigorous research can now take their expertise to the doctoral level through a new online Doctor of Business Administration program from the UB School of Management.

Now accepting applications for the inaugural cohort in spring 2027, the DBA will enable accomplished professionals to develop advanced research skills and apply them directly to challenges facing businesses and organizations.

The fully online, part-time program can be completed in three years, allowing students to earn a doctoral degree while continuing their careers.

“Today’s leaders are navigating increasingly complex organizations, rapidly changing technology and an enormous amount of information,” says Ananth Iyer, dean of the UB School of Management. “Our Doctor of Business Administration program gives experienced professionals the research tools to look beyond assumptions, uncover evidence and develop insights and thus be thought leaders and implementation pioneers in their organizations and industries.”

Unlike a traditional PhD, which typically prepares students to pursue theory-driven academic research, the DBA emphasizes applied, practice-oriented research. Students will draw on their own professional experience to investigate real-world business problems and produce research that can inform executive decision-making.
