Flu and COVID-19 vaccination clinics are being offered for UB students, staff and faculty starting Sept. 10 and running until early November.

The clinics will be offered three times a week, one on each of the three UB campuses. The schedule for the first week of the clinics is as follows:

• 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, in Room 105 of Harriman Hall on the South Campus.
• 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 11, in group learning rooms 2211A-B of the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences building on the Downtown Campus.
• 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 11, in Room 235 of the Student Union on the North Campus.

The last of the clinics will be on Friday, Nov. 6. The full schedule can be found on the student guide website.

Those interested in being vaccinated for flu and/or COVID-19 should bring their UB ID and health insurance card. In lieu of health insurance, the cost is $28 for the flu shot and $165 for the COVID-19 vaccination, both of which are payable only in cash.

The clinics are a partnership with Student Health Services, the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and Tops Friendly Markets.

The seasonal flu can keep a healthy young adult out of class or work for up to five to seven days, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention identifies vaccinations as the first and most important step in protecting against it.

“During an average influenza season in the U.S., flu causes millions of illnesses, hundreds of thousands of hospitalizations, and thousands of deaths,” says Susan Snyder, director of Student Health Services. “Flu vaccination is the best way to reduce your risk of getting influenza.”
