UB's Division of Finance and Administration is now accepting applications for the second cohort of the Emerging Leaders Mentorship and Training Program, building on the momentum of a successful inaugural cohort.
Applications will be accepted until Aug. 17. Those interested can apply online.
Cohort 1 launched in January 2026 with 16 professionals selected from more than 100 applicants. Now in progress, that group has begun the 18-month journey of mentorship, cross-functional exposure and structured leadership development that the program is designed to deliver.
“Cohort 1 showed us the depth of leadership talent we have across this university," says Beth Corry, associate vice president and controller for Business Services and co-sponsor of the Emerging Leaders Program. "We're looking forward to identifying another group of high-potential employees ready to invest in their own growth and in UB's future.”
"This program works because it's built on real investment in our people," adds Joe Lewandowski, assistant vice president for Resource Planning and program co-sponsor. "I'm excited to help identify the next group of leaders ready to take that step."
Selected participants commit to up to 8 hours of programming per month over 18 months, combining eLearning modules with instructor-led sessions. The curriculum spans four perspectives: Essential Knowledge, Providing Technical Proficiency, Reporting & Compliance, and Supporting Business Performance, each concluding with a capstone project.
Participants gain exposure to operations across Business Services, Human Resources, Institutional Analysis, Resource Planning, Research Administration, University Advancement and University Facilities.
Upon completion, participants earn a recognized leadership credential supporting career advancement within the university.
Ideal candidates demonstrate strong performance, leadership potential and a genuine interest in professional growth. Supervisor endorsement is required, and preference is given to employees whose experience and tenure reflect reliability and institutional knowledge.
